HONEY BEE KINI
SUSTAINABLE SURF AND SWIMWEAR
Tell us about yourself, where you’re from, your age etc:
Hiiii I'm Bronte, I'm 25 and living in Bondi Beach, Sydney. I've grown up in the ocean and surf my whole life and am super
passionate about environmental conservation, living a fit and active lifestyle and female empowerment!!
What is your artistic process?
My artistic process is very non-linear and intuitive. I brainstorm and manifest designs, ideas and concepts from my own
experience, nature, other's creations, other cultures, histories and through a lot of trial and error. I create mood boards,
colour pallets, sketches and colleagues and collaborate with different graphic designers, manufacturers and creatives in other
industries to bring my visions to life :)
How does your work reference ‘Sustainability’:
Complete sustainability to me in our current climate, day and age is somewhat unachievable, so Honey Bee Kini focuses on
creating work with a conscious consumerist mindset at the forefront. We are transparent with our approach and use 82%
recycled post-consumer goods such as fishing nets and plastic bottles to create our swim and surf wear.
In every step of our journey we choose to utilise the most eco-friendly options. Our packaging is
100% home compostable and we use minimal plastic in our manufacturing process where we can.
How did you start/ Who inspires you and your work?:
I started working on Honey Bee during lockdown 2020 from the couch in my little Paddington apartment. I did an
online Foundr course facilitated by Greta Van Riel which gave me a great insight into starting an e-comm brand.
I'm inspired by all the powerful women in my life, my grandma, my mum, sister, best friend Nikki, mother nature and
icons like Bethany Hamilton, Ellidy Pullin, Juliet Allen, Francesca Aiello, old surf books, films, Slim Aarons works and more!!
Who is your dream collaboration with and why?:
My dream collaboration would be with Peggy Gou, she is a fashion icon, absolute babe and would rock any of our pieces!
I may or may not have slid into her DM's a few times
Where can we find your designs? Social Media/Website?:
You can find our collection at:

What do you plan to do in the future?
I definitely have huge plans for Honey Bee, but for now are sitting tight with our first gorgeous range, although
we are currently working on a small and exciting Winter collaboration with a Melbourne based start-up!
